Horse Show Rules

**ALL RIDERS UNDER 18 YEARS OLD MUST WEAR A HELMET WHILE MOUNTED.

**All participants must sign a waiver.  If rider is under the age of 18, rider’s parent or legal guardian must sign.  NO TRAINERS OR FRIENDS CAN SIGN. A copy of the form can be found on our website for your convenience.

**Unsportsmanlike conduct will NOT be tolerated.  Any display of such is grounds for removal and will be informed they are not invited back.  Thunderhorse Farm prides itself in a friendly, family atmosphere and will continue to do so.

**Dogs are allowed but MUST be on a leash. Please, no dogs next to the arena.  Not every horse is accustomed to them and we don’t want anyone getting injured.

**Tents are welcomed but not in the vicinity of the arena please.  Apparently, to some horses, they are even scarier than dogs.

**THERE MUST BE 3 ENTRIES TO CONSTITUTE A TFSS POINTED CLASS (special cases may be approved by show manager.)  HOWEVER, LESS ENTRIES MAY STILL SHOW.

**Points begin accumulation when membership fees are paid in full and form is completed and turned in.  Prior shows will not be counted.  In order for points to count, the horse and rider MUST be a member.  Membership fees are $10 per horse, $10 per rider.

** A rider's age on January 1st of the current year is the age they are considered for the entire year. Therefore if a rider is currently 18 years old on January 1st, and turns 19 years old on May 15th, the rider may continue to show as an 18 year old for the rest of the current show season.

** On January 1st, the horse will be considered whatever age it is turning for the entire year. For example, if the horse turns 5 years old on May 15th, it is considered 5 years old on January 1st of the current year, although technically it is only 4.5 years old.

**Members must show in an individual class or division at least twice this season in order for year end points to count for that class or division.

**Memberships on horses do not transfer to a new horse when sold, etc. UNLESS the prior horse has deceased.

**All classes may have mixed disciplines unless discipline is stated. (For example, Western Pleasure does not allow hunter riders.  However, Youth Pleasure can have all disciplines.)

**For a  class/division to count for yearend points, it must fill with a minimum 3 entries at a minimum of 4 shows.

**Membership Points are accumulated as such: points go to the horse for all under-saddle and halter classes.  EXCEPTION: Open Showmanship – points will be accumulated per handler/horse team. Equitation Classes - all points go to the rider, regardless of the horse they ride.

                        Division Champion:                  5 points

                        Division Reserve Champion:   3 points

                        1st place:                                 7 points

                        2nd place:                                5 points

                        3rd place:                                 4 points

                        4th place:                                 3 points

                        5th place:                                 2 points

                        6th place:                                 1 point

** Divisions excluded from year-end awards/points are:

            Lead Line

            Training Class

            Fun Class

Any designated class that states it is not pointed.

**Please note from time to time we will have an exhibitor who may forget to pay for their membership and/or turn in their membership forms at a given show.  If this happens to you and you want to join our membership, you may print off the two membership forms and mail them with payment to Thunderhorse Farm.  However, there are some rules with this if you want your points to count from the last show.  We must receive payment and the forms NO LATER THAN TWO WEEKS AFTER THE  SHOW, AND/OR BEFORE THE NEXT SHOW, whichever comes first.  Prior shows will not count, except for the most recent show.

For example, if you send payment and forms on May 22, and showed at our April 10th and May15th show, only the May show will count for points, going forward.
